日本航空とオランダに本社のあるマエブ・エアロスペース(MAEVE Aerospace)社は、ハイブリッド電動オープン・ローター/ステーター・エンジンを２基尾部に装備する[MAEVE Jet] 、[MJ500]の開発で協力することを合意した。[MJ500]は76~100席級のリージョナル機で既存機に比べ燃料消費量を40 %削減する。
