本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。新型インフルエンザの発生が気になる。新年早々、暗い話で申し訳ないが、新型インフルエンザウイルスがひとたび出現すると、人類は免疫を持っていないからあっと言う間に世界中に広まり、パンデミック（地球規模の流行）を引き起こす。かつてのスペインかぜと同じ程度だとしても、WHO（世界保健機関）や厚生労働省によれば、世界で7400万人が感染死し、日本国内では4人に1人の割合で感染して17万～64万人が命を落とす。この数字は推計に過ぎず、ウイルスの毒性が強ければ強いほど大きな被害をもたらす。
トランプ政権は12月17日、台湾に対しこれまでで最大となる111億ドル（1.7兆円）規模の武器売却を決定した。この中には最新型のロケット発射機(HIMARS)、自走榴弾砲、および各種ミサイルが含まれている。これに対し中国習近平政権は強く反発している。

ゼロアビア(ZEROAVIA)は、ヨーロッパ・ユニオン(EU=European Union)が推進している革新技術支援資金(Innovation Fund)プログラムに選定され、セスナ・キャラバン(Cessna Caravan)輸送機をハイブリッド電動機に改造し、ノルウエーの地方空港を結ぶ定期貨物路線を始める。2028年の予定。
