SpaceXは7月24日に「スターシップ(Starship)」40号機を使った第13回目の打上げで、計画通りインド洋に初めての着水に成功した。
ウエブサイト「Space.com」は8月18日付けで、SpaceXは着水したスターシップ40号機を回収すべく、回収チームが24日間インド洋の荒波に悩まされながら回収作業を続けた。8月７日には、SpaceXは「40号機は水没回収は不成功」と報じた。しかしその後再浮上に成功、8月半ばには静かな海面に曳航することができた。

スペースXは7月24日に、同社のスターベースから巨大ブースターを使い第13回目のスターシップ試験飛行を行った。経過はほぼ完璧で全長53 mのスターシップは、オーストラリア沖のインド洋に計画通りに完全な状態で着水した。しかし残念な事に着水したスターシップを回収すべくオーストラリアに曳航を試みたが失敗、8月7日に水没した。

Things went so well on the flight 13, 52 m long Starship splashed down as planned in the Indian Ocean off the coast of western Australia. 2014年12月に打ち上げられた小惑星探査機「はやぶさ２」は、2020年末に「りゅうぐう」のサンプルを地球に届け、続いて2026年7月に「とりふね」の至近を通過写真撮影に成功、今は次の目標大きさ僅か30 mの小惑星に2031年に到着すべく向かっている。
最新鋭の有人戦闘機と行動し空戦を共にする高性能無人戦闘機（CCA= Cooperative Combat Aircraft）試作機にノースロップ・グラマン社が選定された。僅か15ヶ月間で開発された「タロン・ブルー(Talon Blue)」は、空軍から第２次選考で「YFQ-48A」として選定された。
