日本政府は、敵の攻撃圏外から発射可能な「スタンド・オフ(stand-off)」能力を備える「長射程巡航ミサイル」として、現在配備途上の「12式地対艦誘導弾(改)」の射程（約200 km）を長射程化(1,000 km以上)する「12式地対艦誘導弾能力向上型」開発を決定した。令和3年度(2021)から令和7年度(2025)にかけて394億円を投入して開発する。(Japan proceeds to develop new long range stand-off surface-to-surface missile (SSM), start from 2021 through 2025, funding four million USD.
