本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。1985（昭和60）年8月12日、日本航空のジャンボ機が御巣鷹の尾根に墜落して520人が亡くなった。あの墜落事故から40年という歳月が過ぎようとするなか、いまだに解決されない課題がある。運輸省航空事故調査委員会（事故調）の過ち、陰謀論・撃墜説の流布、修理ミスの理由を明らかにしないボーイング社の体質―の3つである。前回は「なぜ事故調は過ちを犯したのか」というタイトルで事故調の過ちを述べたので、今回は陰謀論・撃墜説について話そう。
日本航空とオランダに本社のあるマエブ・エアロスペース(MAEVE Aerospace)社は、ハイブリッド電動オープン・ローター/ステーター・エンジンを２基尾部に装備する[MAEVE Jet] 、[MJ500]の開発で協力することを合意した。[MJ500]は76~100席級のリージョナル機で既存機に比べ燃料消費量を40 %削減する。

ユナイテッド航空(United Airlines)は、スタートアップ企業 [JetZero] 社が開発中の翼胴一体型 [BWB=Blended Wing Body] 輸送機について、今年4月24日に開発費の出資と、条件付き発注100機とオプション100機の発注を発表した。
令和7年5月の我が国周辺における中露両軍の活動は、中国軍の沖縄列島および台湾周辺での活動が一段と活発化しているが、ロシア軍の動きは低調になっている。これに対し我国および同盟諸国は、警戒を緩めることなく抑止力強化に努めている。

本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。事故後、大学教授などを含む権威者で構成する事故調査委員会を発足、調査にあたった。しかし肝心なところで過ちを犯した。日航社内で事故を調べていた取締役（技術・整備担当）の松尾芳郎氏の説明を無視して調査報告書をまとめ上げた。その結果、調査報告書は歪んでしまった。この問題は拙著『日航・松尾ファイル』の第5章の「21 亀裂の発見確率」と「22 事故調の権威」に詳述してある。
ESA/欧州宇宙機構が計画するPLATO (Planetary Transits and Oscillation of stars)宇宙望遠鏡は、26個のカメラを搭載し、太陽のような恒星の周りにある生命存在可能な軌道上(habitable zone)にある地球サイズの惑星を探査するのが目的である。2026年末にアリアン6ロケットで打上げる。（ESA’s mission Plato, Planetary Transits and oscillations of stars, will use its 26 cameras to study terrestrial exoplanets in orbit the habitable zone of Sun-like stars. The mission will measure the size of planets and find exomoons around them. ESA’s PLATO spacecraft will be launched on board an Arian 6, end of 2026.）
海上自衛隊は2025年5月7日、中国が海洋進出を拡大・強化する南シナ海で、最新型フリゲート「やはぎ/FFM 5」が、イギリス海軍の哨戒艦「スペイ/HMS Spey」、イタリア海軍フリゲート「アントニオ・マルチェリア/IN ITS Antonio Marceglia」と共同訓練を行った。訓練は「自由で開かれたインド太平洋」の維持・実現のために行われた。

NASAの宇宙探査機「ルーシー」は、2025年4月20日午後1時51分（米東部時間）に、小惑星帯の小惑星「ドナルドヨハンソン」に最接近、フライバイに成功した。NASAの担当チームは「ルーシー」が収集したデータを地球に送信するよう指示した。データ送信には1週間ほど要する見込み。(The Lucy team has confirmed NASA’s Lucy spacecraft phoned home after its encounter with the main belt asteroid Donaldjohanson.
