本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。隔壁の残骸を見てきた。38年前の8月12日、群馬県上野村の山中に墜落したあの日航123便の後部圧力隔壁である。羽田空港を臨む東京モノレール・新整備場駅前の「日本航空安全啓発センター」には、隔壁のほか、垂直尾翼、後部胴体、客室座席などの残骸が展示されている。どれも大きく裂け、ひん曲がり、墜落の衝撃の激しさと悲惨さを物語っていた。

7月19日グアムのアンダーセン・空軍基地(Andersen Air Force Base, Guam)に「インド・太平洋に展開する６カ国の空軍が集結、展示訓練/エレファント・ウオークを行なった。参加したのは、U.S.、U.K.、カナダ、オーストラリア、日本、およびフランスの各国空軍の戦闘機、爆撃機、輸送機、それに給油機など23機。

ゼロアビアとMHI RJ、リージョナル機CRJの水素電動化を進める
米英両国に拠点を持つ水素電動航空機の開発企業「ゼロアビア(ZeroAvia)」は、三菱重工の子会社でCRJ-700リージョナル旅客機の型式証明権を保有するMHI RJエビエーション社と協議、CRJ-700のエンジンをゼロアビア製の水素電動エンジンZA 2000RJに換装し、実用化することを決めた。

NASAローマン宇宙望遠鏡、宇宙に漂う地球サイズの惑星400個を発見するか
NASAと大阪大学の研究チームは、太陽のような恒星から離れて宇宙空間を漂流する系外惑星の数は、地球のように太陽/恒星を回る惑星よりはるかに多い、とする論文を発表した。NASAは2027年5月に「ナンシー・グレース・ローマン宇宙望遠鏡(Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope)」を打ち上げる。この論文では、「ローマン望遠鏡」は400個ほどの地球サイズの「漂流惑星(rogue planet)」を発見できそうだ、と述べている。そして既に地上望遠鏡で「漂流惑星」1個を発見したと明らかにしている。
(New research by scientists from NASA and Osaka University suggests that rogue planets, drifting through space untethered to a star, far outnumber than the orbit stars like our Earth. The results imply that NASA’s Roman Space Telescope, launch by May 2027, could find 400 Earth-size rogue planets. This study has identified one such candidate.)
