ウエブ宇宙望遠鏡は、このほど最終的な組立てが完了、全システムの接続が完了たので、重要なソフトウエアと電気システムの最終試験を実施した。これまでは個々のシステムの試験が終り、それぞれの機能についてはデータが得られている。しかし組立てが完了した姿で、各システムが互いに干渉せず正常に作動することを確認する必要がある。この試験が「総合システム試験 (CST)」と名付けた今回の試験である。（Now that NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has been assembled into its final form, testing teams seized to perform a critical software and electrical analysis on the entire observatory as a single vehicle. Known as a Comprehensive Systems Test or CST, this was the first full systems evaluation that has ever been run on the observatory, and the final activities the team will perform.
