米国の有人月面探査計画の中で９番目となるアポロ15 は 1971年7月26日に着陸、2週間の初の長期探査を行った。船長デービッド・スコット(David Scott)と月着陸船 (Lunar Module )操縦士「ジェームス・アーウイン(James Irwin)」は月面探査車(LRV=Lunar Roving Vehicle)で着陸地の近くを18時間にわたり探査、月の岩石77 kgを採取、持ち帰った。 (When the Apollo 15 landed on the Moon in July 26. 1971, they brought along with then the first Lunar Roving Vehicle for exploring the Mount Hadley area and correcting soil and rocks 77 kg. and brought back.)

本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。北朝鮮が初めて新型コロナウイルスの感染を公表した。5月12日、国営メディアの朝鮮中央通信が「平壌（ピョンヤン）で発熱者から採取された検体から変異ウイルスのオミクロン株が検出された。国内で初めて感染者が確認されたことになる」と報じたのである。
NASAが5月9日にジェームス・ウエブ宇宙望遠鏡(JWST)とこれまでの赤外線望遠鏡との比較画像を公開したが、これで予想より数ヶ月早くウエブ望遠鏡の性能が明らかになった。これはJWST主鏡の焦点調整作業の進捗度を示す報告のなかで明らかにされたものである。比較したのはいずれも「大マゼラン雲」内で星々が活発に生成されている同じ区域の写真である。

4月8日〜17日の間、日本海、東シナ海、を含む日本周辺海空域で共同演習を実施した。米空母が日本海に展開したのは2017年11月以来のこと。2. ロシア海軍情報供給部、4月14日を最後にニュースを中断
4月14日に黒海艦隊旗艦・巡洋艦「モスクワ」が火災、弾薬が爆発、深刻な被害を生じた、と報じて以来ニュース発信を停止中。3. 米海軍沿岸戦闘艦「ジャクソン」に新型無人ヘリ「MQ-8C」を配備
第７艦隊所属のLCS「ジャクソン」、新型無人偵察・攻撃ヘリ「MQ-8C」の運用を開始した。4. 新型護衛艦/フリゲート「もがみ」の引渡式
4月28日午前、新型フリゲート「もがみ」の引渡式が三菱長崎造船所で行われた。
本稿は木村良一氏の寄稿です。2,400万人が住む上海は4月初めからロックダウンが続いている。しかし新型コロナの感染者は連日１万人を超え推移している。これで市民の日常生活が困窮し、さらに経済活動が停滞し、多くの企業が操業停止に追い込まれている。しかし習近平主席は自らの権威を高めたいがためゼロコロナ政策を堅持している。一体どうなっているのだろうか？
防衛省統合幕僚監部は令和4年4月15日、「2021年度（令和3年度）の緊急発進実施状況について」と題して2021年4月から2022年3月までの１年間の緊急発進回数を発表した。周知の内容だが整理して紹介する。
2021年度の緊急発進回数は1,004回で、過去最高だった2016年度の1,168回に次ぐ記録となった。これは前年度(2020年度)の725回を300回近く上回った。
4月13日午後(EDT) 米国防総省は、大統領の要求にもとずきウクライナに対する緊急援助として第1回8億ドル相当の兵器を追加すると発表した。これは、ウクライナ東部でロシア軍の攻撃が集中化していることに対抗するためウクライナ政権から緊急要請があった項目に対応する措置である。続いて4月21日に第2回目、８億ドルを追加した。この16億ドルの内容である。
ジェームス・ウエブ宇宙望遠鏡 は、2021年12月25日に打上げられ、「エイリアン５」ロケットのペイロード室に折畳まれていた構造が展張し、今年1月8日にその全容を現した。そして予定の観測点に向かい1月23日からラグランジェL 2点の周回軌道に入った。L 2点周回軌道上で太陽光を地球で遮りながら観測機器の冷却を続け、4月13日までに観測機器が作動するに十分な超低温に到達した。(The JWST, launched by Arian 5 at Dec. 25, 2021, deployed five-layered sunshield and primary mirror system in first 12 days. 南シナ海で航行の自由を守る作戦の一環として３カ国海軍が共同訓練を実施した。4. 米空母、黄海で北朝鮮ICBM発射に警告する演習を実施

3. U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Momsen joined JMSDF destroyer Yudachi and Australian HMAS Arunta in the South China Sea, conducted
multinational training, to promote “navigation freedom in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific”.
4. North Korea has increased the pace and scale of its ICBM launches since last fall. The U.S. strongly condemns them and conducted a carrier based air demonstration in international airspace in the Yellow Sea.)
