JAXAは、「はやぶさ２」で小惑星「りゅうぐう」を探査、試料を採取、地球に持ち帰って研究を進めている。判ったのは「りゅうぐう」は小惑星ではなく「死んだ彗星」だということ。「りゅうぐう」は岩石の集合体で、大昔に小惑星どうしが衝突して出来た天体とされてきた。しかし新しい証拠は、含まれていた水分やガスが全て太陽光で蒸発してしまった彗星の残骸であると示している。(The Japanese JAXA’s Hayabusa 2 mission visited asteroid Ryugu, has brought back a sample to Earth and are studying the tiny spacerock. New evidence indicates, Ryugu might not an asteroid but the remnant of dead comet. Ryugu is a collection of rocks, and the traditional theory is that it was smashed up long time ago. But the new evidence suggests, it might be residual after all water and gasses were blasted away by the Sun.)
