防衛省、海自用滞空型無人哨戒機にGA-ASI製MQ-9B SeaGuadianを選定

防衛省は海上自衛隊の哨戒能力を向上させるために、ジェネラル・アトミクス社(GA-ASI =General Atomics Aeronautical systems)製の滞空型無人哨戒機MQ-9B シーガーデイアン(SeaGuardian)を選定した、と発表した（令和6年11月15日）。2028年から2038年までに23機を取得する。
(Japan’s Ministry of Defense announced, MQ-9B SeaGaudian has been selected for Maritime Self Defense Force, on November 15. The MQ-9B is remotely piloted aircraft systems made by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-AIS), it is a next generation long endurance unmanned patrol plane. Total procurement expected 23 systems by 2038.)

中国、ロシアが進める極超音速滑空体(HGV=Hypersonic Glide Vehicle)の配備に対し、日米両国は共同で次世代型ミサイル防衛システムGPIの開発協定を正式に締結した(May 15, 2024)。米国防総省ミサイル防衛局 (MDA=Missile Defense Agency)は2024年9月25日、GPIはノースロップ・グラマン (NG=Northrop Grumman)社案を採用すると決定した。これを受け防衛省はNG社と共同開発を進めると発表した。
(Japan and the United States signed an agreement on May 15 to jointly develop Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI), next-generation missile defense system defeating hypersonic missiles that are deployed by China and Russia. The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) announced on September 25, 2024, will proceed with Northrop Grumman to continue development of the GPI, with international partner the Japan Ministry of Defense (MoD).

シリコンバレーのスタートアップ国防企業「アンドリル・インダストリー」は、去る9月11日、関係記者に自律巡航ミサイル「バラクーダ」シリーズを公表した。同社によると、このミサイルは容易に改良ができ、低価格で大量生産が可能なので同盟国軍の継戦能力を著しく強化できる。
(The Silicon Valley start-up a defense tech firm “Anduril Industries” unveiled a new line of autonomous cruise missiles “Barracuda”, on September 11. Anduril says they will be able to be easily upgraded and produced in large numbers to increase the Allied military’s stockpile.)

ウクライナ空軍、ドローン迎撃用新防空システムの試射を公開

ウクライナ空軍は2024年9月25日、ドイツ・ラインメタルが開発した最新の防空システム「スカイネクス」の試験運用している様子を初めて公開した。「スカイネクス」防空システムは、ドイツがウクライナに供与した最新の短射程防空システムで、最大４基の35 mm口径機関砲無人砲塔、火器管制室(fire control unit)、目標探知レーダー、で構成されている。

The Skynex Anti-Aircraft Artillery System, supplied to Ukraine by Germany, as the latest short range air defense system. シコルスキー、新型大統領専用ヘリコプター23機の納入を完了

新型大統領専用ヘリコプターは[VH-92A]、シコルスキー社が海兵隊から23機受注していたが、2024年8月19日に、23号機を完成、海兵隊に納入を完了した。1957年以来、大統領専用ヘリコプターは全てシコルスキー社が製造する機体で、運用は67年・海兵隊が担当している。(The U.S. Marine Corp. formally accepted the 23rd and final next generation VH-92A presidential helicopter build by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martine Company, in recent ceremonies at Owego Facility, making a big milestone for the company, they have flown every U.S. President since1957, by Marine. )

2024年7月は、英国でファンボロー航空ショーと王立国際軍事航空ショー[RIAT]、および米国でEAAエア・ベンチャー・オシュコシュ・ショーが開催された。それぞれのショーで話題となった事例を紹介する。米航空宇宙誌「エビエーション・ウイーク」が2024年7月29日-8月11日号で「エア・ショー・ウイーク(Air Show Week)」として特集した記事をベースにして解説を試みた。

三菱電機、レイセオンと共同で[SPY-6]レーダーを米海軍に供給

三菱電機は米国のレイセオン(RTX )と、米海軍向けSPY-6(V)レーダー部品を供給する契約を締結した。これで三菱電機は米海軍向け装備品のサプライチェーンに参入することになる。三菱電機はこれまでも多くの分野でレイセオンと協力関係にあったが、今回の契約でさらに発展することになる。
(Mitsubishi Electric has engaged with Raytheon, an RTX business unit, to supply components for the SPY-6(V) radar for U.S. Navy vessels. The contract between two will enable Mitsubishi to begin preparations for making SPY-6(V) components to supply the U.S. Navy. Mitsubishi will participate in the U.S. Navy’s equipment supply chain business in the future.)
