岸田文夫首相が今年(2022)５月５日ロンドンを訪問、ボリス・ジョンソン英国首相と会談、ワーキング・ランチを共にした。その中で、両首脳は、日英両国が進めている将来戦闘機計画について「共同開発が望ましい、2022年末までに協力の全体像について合意したい、これにより両国の関係は一層強固になるだろう」と述べた。
(When Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited London in May 5, held a summit meeting with UK’s PM Boris Johnson. In the meeting, both PMs shared the joint efforts of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) and to reach mutual understanding on the overall picture of the project within 2022. The FCAS could become the “cornerstone” of their bilateral relations.)

冬の天頂付近「オリオン座(Orion)」に見える赤色巨星「ベテルギウス(Betelgeuse)」の大減光が観測されたのは2019年10月、なぜ明るさがそれまでの1/3に減ったのか、天文学者達は研究を続けている。ハブル宇宙望遠鏡や他の天体望遠鏡の観測資料を調べて、減光の原因は、超巨大な「コロナ質量放出 (CME=coronal mass ejection)」、太陽から出る「CME」の４千億倍、であることを突き止めた。
(It’s been a few years since Betelgeuse significantly dimmed in the sky, and astronomers are still working what made the dim to one-third of its average brightness. Using the data obtained by Hubble Telescope and others, they have discovered, it was due to a gigantic corona mass ejection(CME) that released 400 billion times more materials than the sun eject.)

政府は2020(令和2年)-12-18の閣議（安倍内閣）で「新たなミサイル防衛システムの整備等及びスタンド・オフ防衛能力の強化について」を決定、そこで“スタンド・オフ防衛能力強化のため当該装備品（長射程巡航ミサイル）開発を急ぐべし”と述べている。これが「12式地対艦誘導弾（能力向上型）」である。

(Japan accelerates to get new long range stand-off cruise missile, being developed since 2021, the missile will range more than 1,000 km, possibly up to 1,500 km, covering most of the  Chinese coastal military bases from the west of Japan’s islands. The missile, named “Type 12 SSM Enhanced Capability”, will have stealthy fuselage, larger wing, new turbofan and modern tactical datalink system.)

「コンコード」が飛ばなくなってからほぼ20年になるが、以後超音速旅行は復活していない。超音速旅客機の再来を目指すベンチャー企業「ブーム(Boom)」が創立されてから８年が経過した。ブームの努力が実り、ここへきて超音速旅客機の実現に向け大きな前進が見られた。

（It’s has been almost 20 years since Concorde ended the last flight, since then have not bringing supersonic travel again. However, a supersonic airliner developer “Boom”, founded eight years ago, is taking some major leaps to make supersonic flying a reality again.）

令和4年7月、我国周辺における中露両軍の活動と、我国および同盟諸国の動きに関し、公的部門等から多くの発表があった。以下にその内容を紹介する。注目すべきニュースは次の通り；
1. ロシア艦隊、中国艦隊、相次いで日本周辺海域で軍事行動
2. 空自・米空軍、合わせて数十機が東シナ海を中心に共同演習（6月下旬から10日間）
3. 「ロナルド・レーガン」空母打撃群が南シナ海で演習
4. 中国無人攻撃機が宮古海峡を通過、台湾東岸沖からバシー海峡へ
5. 中国軍侵入に備え台湾が全国規模で大演習を実施
(The military maneuvers by Russo-Chinese Forces around Japan’s Islands are active as last June. Japan and Allies took counter measure against the threat. Following five were noteworthy in July.)
1. Russian and Chinese naval vessels cruise around Japanese island coordinated together.
2. Japan’s and US Air Forces, together with a large number of aircraft, conducted joint military drill in East China Sea for ten days.
3. USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group operates in South China Sea.
4. A Chinese unmanned air vehicle TB001 flew through the Miyako Strait.
5. Taiwan conducted nationwide military exercise to prevent the possible Chinese attack.

　新型コロナの第7波で、全国の1日当たりの新規感染者の数が20万人を超えて第6波のピーク時の2倍に膨れ上がり、その後も過去最多を更新している。だが、重症者はそんなには増えていない。ここは冷静に構え、過剰な反応が事態を悪化させる悪循環を断ち切りたい。

６月15日午前11時5分（現地時間）開発中の最新型旅客機エアバス「A321!XLR ( Xtra Long Range)初号機MSN 11000がハンブルグ・フィンケンウエーデル (Finkenwerder, Hamburg) 工場の空港から多数の従業員に見送られ初飛行に飛び立った。初飛行は北部ドイツおよび北海上空で行われ４時間35分に及んだ。初飛行では、高速飛行および低速飛行での操縦特性、エンジンおよび主なシステムの状況、フライト・エンベロープ(flight envelope / 飛行包絡線)逸脱防止機能、などのチェックをした。
(On 11:05 am of June 15 , hundreds of employees at Airbus’ Hamburg Finkenwerder plant rushed down to the fence around the airport runway, and they witnessed the first takeoff of the A321XLR. The aircraft’s test flight lasted 4 hours and 35 minutes, and the flight crew tested the aircraft flight controls, engines, and main systems, including flight envelop protections, both at high and low speed.)

本稿は鳥居徹夫氏の寄稿である。第２６回参議院選挙は、６月22日に公示され、７月10日に投開票が行われた。

公示日は、ウクライナにロシアが２月24日に武力侵略して約４カ月後であり、投開票日はその4カ月半後にあたる。

自民党は、一人区で28勝４敗と大勝したが、比例では伸び悩んだ。立憲民主党は選挙区で６議席減と大敗したが、比例では現状維持であった。

維新の党も比例では伸びたが、選挙区では停滞したコロナ対応と経済再生が問われる中、勤労国民の所得増によって内需拡大を図る政策へ、政府と自民党自身が大きくカジを切ろうとしている。

生活者・勤労者は、普通の市民であり消費者であり納税者である。そして労働組合は日本最大の納税者組織である。そして政治家と政党を勤務評定するのが、政治活動であり選挙活動なのである。

海運大手「商船三井(MOL)」のグループ企業「旭タンカー」は、昨年12月22日香川県丸亀市の造船会社「興亜産業」で、世界初の完全電気推進タンカー「あさひ」総トン数499 tonの命名・進水式を行った。このタンカーは「e5 ラボ」社が企画・デザインする大容量のリチウム・イオン(Lithium-ion)電池を動力源とする電気推進タンカー（EVタンカー/EV船）で、CO2、NOXや煤煙などを一切排出しない世界最初のセロ・エミッション船である。2022年3月下旬に完成、貨物船、車輌運搬船、客船などの大型船舶に燃料を供給するタンカー（バンカリング船）として東京湾で就航している。
(World’s first all-electric powered tanker “Asahi” put into service in Yokohama harbor started April 26, 2022 . The vessel powered by electric motor instead of conventional piston engine, The role of the tanker is supplying fuel to large ships, cargo vessel and auto-carrier in or outside of the harbor. Power source is large capacity of Lithium-ion buttery systems provided by KHI, one of the largest ship and defense manufactures in Japan. “Asahi” is the first emission-free ship in such size, and owned by “Asahi Tanker”, a subsidiary of “MOL or Mitsui Osaka Line”, one of the world largest shipping trader.)

米国防総省(DoD)は７月１日午後、ウクライナに対し８億2千万ドルの軍事追加支援を行うと発表した。支出は“安全支援に関わる大統領安全支援基金(PDA=Presidential Drawdown of Security Assistance)”から5千万ドル、“ウクライナ安全支援基金 (USAI=Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds)”から7億7千万ドル。これで米国のウクライナ支援総額は、2月24日のロシア侵攻以来69億ドルになる。７月３日には、オーストラリアのアルバニージ首相がキーウを訪問、オーストラリア製ブッシュマスター装輪装甲車を含む1億ドルの軍事援助を約束した。
(July First, the US DoD announced $820 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine. This includes $50 million from Presidential authorization (PDA) and $770 million from USAI. The United States has now committed $6.9 billion since the beginning of Russia’s invasion on February 24. On July 3rd, Australian PM Anthony Albanese visited Kiev first time and committed farther military assistance valued $10 million in addition to previously committed of $39 million.)
